OPEN MY LIPS - MOUTH CREATES WORLDS
Join us for a digital course with international vocal artist Victoria Hanna.
Share in her life’s research: the space between voice, speech, and creation in Hebrew.
Our study will be inspired by the oldest Kabbalist book, Sefer Yetzirah (The Book of Creation), which describes the creation of the world through the Hebrew letters. Guided by this text, and the knowledge we arrive at through our senses, we will:
-Delve into each letter of the Hebrew alphabet and locate them in our bodies
-Meet Hebrew as a holy language, a physical tool that reverberates in the body
-Learn to use the human mouth as technology for creativity, prayer and inner work
-Gain a new perspectives for understanding Hebrew words and verses
-Connect to our voices and learn to use them with ease
-Explore how melody emerges from text
We will meet once a week for 90-120 minutes. Each session will include a 90min workshop, followed by an optional 30min for questions at the end.
The last (7th) session will be a closing session, where you can share your experiences, thoughts and observations.
Throughout the weeks of the workshop, we'll accompany you with guidance for independent practice between meetings.
We will continue to interact and share practice through a closed Facebook group.
Additionally each student will have a 1-1 meeting with Victoria to discuss what they hope to get from the course.
The course will be held in English. No previous knowledge of Hebrew required.
